GENA ft. Liv.e & Karriem Riggins Tickets | Official Sale
Information
There's a kinetic energy that unites drummer and producer Karriem Riggins with singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer Liv.e—that spark that ignites when instinct meets flow and spirit finds rhythm.
Rooted in jazz, soul, and hip-hop as living languages, Dallas-born Liv.e brings a raw, experimental approach to R&B, while Detroit native Riggins—known for his work with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Madlib, and his close affinity with the late J Dilla—expands his lifelong dialogue between jazz improvisation and the science of the beat.
Their collaborative debut as GENA (short for “God Energy, Naturally Amazing”), “The Pleasure Is Yours” (Lex Records), feels like a playful and moving conversation between two natural improvisers: Liv.e’s smoky, unpolished vocals glide through Riggins’ warm, percussive universe.
Together they create a world that is both analog and ethereal, percussive and poetic, bridging eras without ever settling in one. “The Pleasure Is Yours” is the sound of Liv.e and Riggins mutually breathing life into their music and finding a new common language: one rooted in rhythm, vulnerability, and exuberance.
